New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) India’s exports during June grew by 46.45 percent at $29.21 billion (Rs.1,31,031.43 crore) compared to $19.94 billion (Rs.92,892.68 crore) during the corresponding month of last year, official data showed Monday.
According to the data released by the ministry of commerce and industry, imports during the month under review surged 42.46 percent at $36.87 billion as against $25.88 billion in June 2010.
‘Oil imports during June 2011 were valued at $10.18 billion which was 30.09 percent higher than oil imports valued at $7.82 billion in the corresponding period last year,’ the ministry said in a statement.
‘Non-oil imports during June 2011 were estimated at $26.69 billion which was 47.82 percent higher than non-oil imports of $18.05 billion in June 2010,’ it added.
The data also showed that the country’s exports in the first quarter of 2011-12 rose by 45.71 percent to $79 billion as against $54.22 billion in the like period of last year.
Imports during the quarter increased 36.22 percent at $110.61 billion as against $81.20 billion in the corresponding period last year.
The trade deficit for the first quarter was estimated at $31.61 billion as against $26.98 billion during the like quarter of 2010-11.
