New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS) M.C. Joshi took over as the new chairman of the central board of direct taxes (CBDT) Monday.
The earlier chairman Prakash Chandra retired on July 31.
Joshi, who belongs to the 1974 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), was earlier serving as the chief commissioner of income tax, Uttarakhand, according to an official statement.
A masters degree holder in Economics, Joshi has also been a special director in the Directorate of Enforcement.
The department also said that K. Madhavan Nair, an IRS officer from the 1975 batch also joined as member in CBDT.
