Bhubaneswar, Aug 1 (IANS) The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of state-run Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Monday said it has registered its best ever production performance for the first four months (April-July) during the current fiscal.
The company, based at the steel city of Rourkela in Orissa, continued to operate its major production facilities well over the rated capacity.
The steel plant produced 0.747 million tonnes of hot metal, 0.709 million tonnes of crude steel and 0.683 million tonnes of saleable steel corresponding to 112 percent, 112 percent and 122 percent of rated capacity, the company said in a statement.
These figures also represent best ever production for any April-to-July period since the inception of RSP in 1960 and indicate growth over the corresponding period of last year to the tune of 3, 7 and 8 percent, respectively.
