Tokyo, Sep 30 (IANS) Russia’s Vera Zvonareva breezed into the singles final of the $2.05 million WTA Pan Pacific Open tennis tournament here Friday, setting up the summit clash with Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.

Zvonareva met with strong shots from Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic in the first set. Kvitova dominated the first few games in the first set but she was unable to carry the momentum to win it. The second set was a one-sided affair with Zvonareva closing out the match 7-6(2), 6-0.

‘I think I played consistent in the second set and Petra Kvitova made a few more mistakes,’ Zvonareva was quoted as saying by Xinhua. ‘We had tough games, but I was able to convert all my chances and that is why the scoreline looked like that.’

In the other semi-final, 13th-seeded Radwanska came from behind to beat World No.3 Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
