Srinagar, Oct 1 (IANS) Two school teams from South Africa are here in Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the three-day T-20 cricket championship which started in a local school here Saturday.

The championship is being held at the Delhi Public School (DPS) and the teams from the Al-Aqsa School, Johannesburg, and the Berea West Senior Primary School, Durban, are participating.

The opening match was played between Berea West Senior Primary School and DPS Srinagar, which won the match by 77 runs.

The second match was played between Al-Aqsa School and the local Green Valley School at Kashmir University, which Green Valley won by 103 runs.

‘We are sure these boys would carry memories with them which would attract more and more visitors from South Africa to the valley,’ said director of the state tourism department Farooq Shah.

‘It is wonderful to have come here from far off South Africa. The Himalayas, the houseboats and the local hospitality are simply majestic,’ said a parent of a South African boy.
