Lucknow, Oct 1 (IANS) Mob justice ruled in a small village of Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district Saturday when three people, suspected to be robbers, were lynched by locals, police said.
The unidentified men were beaten to death in Palseda village under the Pisawan police station.
‘We have learnt the locals caught the three men while they were trying to escape along with their two aides after robbing a businessman of Rs.30,000,’ Superintendent of Police (rural) M.P. Singh told reporters in Aligarh, some 300 km from here.
‘Locals assaulted the three men with wooden sticks and they died on the spot while their two accomplices ran away,’ he added.
‘No one is allowed to take law in their hands. An inquiry is under way to identify all those involved in the killings,’ said Singh.
