Chennai, Oct 1 (IANS) India’s top rider Krishnan Rajini chalked up a fluent win and appeared poised to retain the title in the premium Superbikes (Group A, 600cc) class in the MRF-FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship here Saturday.

Leaving nothing to chance, Rajini won the first of the two races sparing nearly 10 seconds to second-placed Deepak Ravikumar and stretched his lead to eight points. A top-six finish in the second outing Sunday will seal the championship for Rajini.

However, Deepak had the satisfaction of clinching the championship in Group B (165cc, Open) class as he won the first race.

Meanwhile, S Madhan (Yamaha R15 Novice) and Rajesh Ratnakumar (Group D, Novice, 130cc) also annexed the championships in their respective classes by winning the first race.

The title in the fifth category of the National championship, the Group D Open, was very much in the balance with just seven points separating leader S Madhan and N Abhishek.

One-Make Championship – Honda Stunner: M Sudhakar 1, Tamarai Kanna 2, A Prabhu 3. Twister (Novice): J Allwyn Jebaz 1, Gaurav Naidu 2, Sanjay Kumar 3.

Yamaha – R15 Open: D Dinesh Kumar 1, Shyam Shankar 2, M Sudhakar 3. R15 Novice: S Madhan 1, R Venkataraman 2, Gaurav Naidu 3.
