Islamabad, Oct 2 (IANS) Pakistan’s shrimp and prawn exports rose by 7.75 percent during July, 2010 and April, 2011.

An official of the commerce ministry said Saturday that about 5,638 tonnes of shrimps and prawns, worth about Rs.1,796 million, were exported during the period.

The UAE was the top importer with over 2,119 tonnes, worth about Rs.662 million. Egypt was the second largest importer followed by Saudi Arabia, the Daily Times reported Sunday.

India, Bahrain, Indonesia, Japan and China, among others, were also major importers.
