Islamabad, Oct 2 (IANS) A fuel shortage in Pakistan has aggravated the country’s power crisis, forcing over 10 hours of outages in the urban and rural areas due to a 6,000 MW shortfall.
An official brief on daily power generation said the total power generation was recorded at 11,257 MW against the demand of 17,277 MW in the 24 hours till Sunday evening.
Only 2,600 metric tonnes of furnace oil was provided to the plants against the demand of 32,570 metric tonnes, the state-run APP news agency quoted an unnamed official as saying.
Similarly, gas supply to plants has been reduced and only 772 MMCF was supplied against the demand of 1,096 MMCF. The hydel generation has also witnessed sharp reduction due to less water discharge from water reservoirs.
