Kolkata, Oct 31 (IANS) Ahead of a crucial party conference, the West Bengal unit of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has decided to induct young blood in the party and hold meetings to introspect on organizational and political shortcomings and rectify the mistakes as early as possible, a party official said Monday.
‘Through the process of party conferences from the grassroots level, we have to find out our mistakes more minutely and rectify those mistakes. We have to harp on building up such an organization which can carry out struggles,’ said Biman Bose addressing a two-day state committee meeting which ended Monday.
‘Since the 1978 party conference to the 22nd party conference, the Left Front was in power. But this time the party conference is being held in such a situation when Left Front is not in power. We have tried to examine 2011 assembly poll debacle. The state committee has also completed the introspection. But it is very important that through the process of party conferences at local, zonal, district and state level it should be searched more minutely the reasons behind the erosion of the support base of Left Front,’ said a statement issued by the CPI-M.
The process of the party conference, to be held in February 2012, is scheduled to start from November.
‘Through this process we have to identify small and big mistakes committed by us and rectify it in a right way. We have to reach out to the working class of the village and towns and establish close ties with the masses,’ said the statement.
‘The state is going through a tough situation. To change this horrific situation, we have to increase our mass base through introspection and announce popular programme from the stage,’ the statement said.
The state committee has also issued a few guidelines regarding selection of representatives for local and zonal committees.
‘The local and zonal committees will act as bridge between party and common man. The criteria for selection of the members for these two committees must be honesty, acceptability to the masses, discipline and physical mobility. The members should be aware of the communist morality,’ the party statement said.
It also stated that while selecting representatives for the local and zonal committees, 25 percent of the total membership should be young and new. The committees should be kept small for more mobility of committee members.
‘The unity of the party should also be increased and number of whole-timers in the party has to be increased. We have to strengthen the unity of the Left Front and reach out to the poor. The main aim is to get back the support of the working class and the poor,’ said the statement.
