New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) Anna Hazare has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying he will go on another hunger strike if a strong Lokpal bill was not passed in the winter session of parliament from Nov 22.
‘I had adjourned my fast and agitation due to your assurance,’ Hazare said in his letter to the prime minister.
‘If a strong Lokpal bill is not passed in the winter session, I will start that agitation from the last day of (the) winter session,’ Hazare wrote in his letter.
The winter session of parliament will begin Nov 22 and conclude Dec 21.
The social activist said he had ended his August fast on the prime minister’s promise that a strong Lokpal bill would be legislated.
He added that he adjourned his agitation on a written assurance by the government, because of which he also cancelled his tour to the five states which will see elections next year.
Stating that members of the government were talking against the promise and creating confusion, Hazare warned that his team would visit states going to polls and ‘without taking names of any party’ and ask people to vote for clean candidates.
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Goa and Manipur are due in 2012.
