Islamabad, Nov 1 (IANS) A high court in Pakistan Tuesday ordered the government to bring before it former president Pervez Musharraf and former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, two of the accused in the killing of tribal leader Nawab Akbar Bugti, Geo News reported.
Akbar Bugti was the chief of the Bugti tribe and also served as governor of Balochistan province. He was killed in an operation near Dera Bugti in August 2006.
A Quetta judicial magistrate last week issued arrest warrants for Musharraf and Aziz.
The crime branch, which is investigating the case, has alleged that Bugti was killed on the directives of the Balochistan government, Geo News said.
A murder case was registered against six people, including Musharraf, Aziz, former interior minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, former Balochistan chief minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf, and former provincial interior minister Shoaib Nausherwani.
Musharraf headed a military government from October 1999 till August 2007. He ruled as chief executive from 1999-2001 and as president from 2001-08.
Shaukat Aziz was the prime minister from May 2004 to November 2007 in the government led by Musharraf.
