Warsaw, Nov 1 (IANS) A Boeing 767 airliner with 230 people onboard made an emergency landing at the Warsaw airport Tuesday after its landing gear failed.
No one was injured in the incident, said Leszek Chorzewski, spokesperson for LOT, the Polish airline that operated the flight from Newark, New Jersey.
A power system failure prevented the crew from extending the landing gear.
The Frederic Chopin Airport, where the plane landed, has been closed till Wednesday morning, Xinhua reported.
All planes that were to land in Warsaw will be directed to other Polish airports, Chorzewski said.
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, in a televised speech, thanked the pilots and crew of the plane and all the airport services and praised the behaviour of the passengers ‘who effectively cooperated during this very difficult moment’.
