Guwahati, Dec 3 (IANS) Former military secretary Lt. Gen (retd) Avadesh Prakash was Saturday convicted and dismissed from service with retrospective effect by an army court martial here for involvement and culpability in a land scam at Sukna military station in West Bengal in 2008.

He was found guilty on three counts, including intent to defraud and conduct unbecoming of an officer. He was acquitted on the fourth charge of pecuniary gains.

He is the seniormost lieutenant general of the Indian Army to have faced such stringent disciplinary action till date and the second in the case to be found guilty by an army court martial.
