Mumbai, May 1 (IANS) Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) major Hindustan Unilever Tuesday posted a 20.6 percent rise in net profit at Rs.686.6 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012, against Rs.569.2 crore during the like period of the previous financial year.

Total income stood at Rs.5,835.86 crore during the quarter under review, up 16 percent against Rs.5,028.7 crore during the like period of 2010-11, the company said in a regulatory filing.
For the year ended March 31, the company logged a net profit of Rs.2,691.4 crore whereas it was Rs.2,305.99 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011.
Total Income was Rs. 22,394.68 crore for the fiscal under review against Rs.20,008.4 crore for the year ended March 31, 2011.
The company has recommended a final dividend of Rs.4.
