Mumbai, July 2 (IANS) Dalbir Kaur, sister of Sarabjit Singh, who is on the death row in Pakistan, will be making a trip to Delhi soon to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi to seek their intervention and help.
“I will meet Rahul-ji and Sonia-ji. I am going to meet PM saab very soon as well. On July 5, our foreign minister will meet the Pakistani foreign minister, and I want that this topic (Sarabjit’s release) should be discussed,” she said.
Dalbir Kaur also seeks an organisation be allowed to go to Pakistani prisons and probe the condition of Indian prisoners.
“I have given a memorandum that one unit should be prepared from India’s side and allowed to visit Pakistani jails and tell the entire world about the situation. I am waiting for this committee to be set up,” she added.
Sarabjit Singh has been on death row in Lahore jail since 1990. His family was overjoyed when the Pakistani government last week announced his release before clarifying it was Surjeet Singh, and not Sarabjit Singh, who was being released.
