Rio de Janeiro, July 3 (IANS) Boca Juniors goalkeeper Agustin Orion has attempted to provoke Corinthians on the eve of Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores football final by claiming Brazilians fear playing Argentinian clubs.
Corinthians will be aiming for its first Libertadores title at the Pacaembu stadium in Sao Paulo while Boca is vying for a record-equalling seventh winner’s trophy, Xinhua reports.
The clubs drew the first leg 1-1 at the Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires last week.
“Brazilians feel uncomfortable playing against Argentinian teams and Boca’s record is something they have in the back of their mind,” Orion said in an interview with Fox Sports on Monday night.
“We have a great team of experienced players – four or five of whom have already won the Libertadores. The fact this game is away from home doesn’t make any difference to us.”
Orion also denied reports of any ill-feeling between the players and coach Julio Cesar Falcioni.
“He is happy to be coaching this group of players and is chiefly responsible for getting us to where we are.”
