Noida, July 28 (IANS) The principal of a chain of schools in Noida and Greater Noida was shot at and critically injured by unidentified assailants outside his house here Saturday, police said.

According to police, Dharamveer Singh, the owner and principal of Dharam Public School in Greater Noida and in Noida, was shot when he came outside his house in the Sector-22 area around 5.30 p.m. on way to his guest house in Jhundpura area.
As he was about to sit in his car, two men came on a bike and opened fire on him. Singh collapsed and was taken to the Metro Hospital in Sector-11 by family members and locals. His condition was said to be critical.
He was hit by two bullets, of which one hit him close to his chest.
Police are yet to file a case.
“We have not yet received a complaint from anyone from the victim’s side. As and when we get it, we shall start investigating,” said an official at Sector-20 police station.
Sources said Singh had a dispute over some property with people in Jhundpura where he owed a guesthouse. Police suspected dispute to be the reason behind the incident.
