London, July 31 (IANS/RIA Novosti) South Korean judoka Jae-Bum Kim gained sweet revenge over Germany’s Ole Bischof to clinch gold in the men’s 81 kg category at the London Olympics Tuesday.
Kim, who lost the Beijing final four years ago, was on top for the duration of the contest and won by yuko.
Meanwhile, Russian judoka Ivan Nifontov took bronze, beating Japan’s Takahiro Nakai by Ippon in the third place match.
It was a third judo medal for Russia after Arsen Galstyan won the 60 kg category Saturday and Mansur Isaev took gold in the 73 kg.
The other bronze went to the Canadian judoka Antoine Valois-Fortier, who beat Travis Stevens of the US by yuko.
In the women’s 63 kg category, Urska Zolnir from Slovenia won gold after beating Lili Xu of China by waza-ari.
Yoshie Ueno from Japan took the bronze after beating Mongolia’s Munkhzaya Tsedevsuren by yuko.
French judoka Gevrise Emane gained the second bronze, downing Da-Woon Joung of South Korea by unanimous decision.
