Sydney, Sep 30 (IANS) At least six people have been hospitalised in the Australian capital city of Canberra after taking party drug GHB or “Fantasy”.
Police said the six people admitted to a Canberra hospital had ingested the illicit drug Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) Friday, the Australian Associated Press reported Sunday.
The liquid drug is also known as “Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH)”, “liquid ecstasy”, “liquid E” and “blue nitro”.
Detectives are investigating the overdoses which all happened within the Canberra nightclub area in the city’s centre, Civic.
A government report said taking GHB could be fatal, because just a two-milligram overdose can kill.
This relatively cheap drug is sold on the club and party scene in water bottles and glass perfume vials.
GHB can be manufactured from chemicals found in legitimate commercial products, primarily used as industrial cleaning agents.
