Jakarta, July 21 (Inditop.com) Young Indian golfer Gaganjeet Bhullar coming in straight from his experience of the British Open in Turnberry, will be looking to re-live memories of his best finish in his pro career when he tees up at the $400,000 Indonesia President Invitational this week.
Bhullar was headed towards his maiden professional triumph when Juvic Pagunsan pipped Bhullar with a dream finish with a birdie-eagle finish at the same event in 2007.
Bhullar, then in his first year as a pro, has since become one of the leading Indian players with some great finishes. Though he has won pro titles only in India – three this year – he is still looking for his first on Asian Tour.
“After the British Open, which was a great experience, my aim is now to win on Asian Tour. I have had good results (three top-10s) in first half of the season and am now looking to go better,” said Bhullar.
He is also planning to play the European Tour qualifiers this season. “I liked playing in Europe and so am going to give it show,” he added.
Other Indians expected in the field are Gaurav Ghei, Digvijay Singh, Anirban Lahiri, Amandeep Johl, C. Muniyappa, Rahil Gangjee, Himmat Rai and Manav Jaini.
The third edition of the Indonesia President Invitational, which starts Thursday, marks the resumption of the Tour’s second half of the season.
Australian Scott Hend, who won the title at the Pantai Indah Kapuk course last year, will defend his crown where other top stars include Korea’s Bae Sang-moon, Singaporean veteran Mardan Mamat and Australian Adam Blyth, all ranked in the top-10 of the Order of Merit.
