New Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) Ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit, India Thursday approved purchase of air-launched versions of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles worth Rs.6,000 crore for the Indian Air Force.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, cleared the proposal at a meeting here, said official sources.
The amount involves funds for integration and testing of the BrahMos missile on Russian origin Su-30 MKI fighter jets of the IAF, the sources said.
The Russian president is expected to visit India Oct 30-Nov 1.
