New Delhi, July 22 (Inditop.com) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Wednesday told the Delhi High Court that Delhi Police did not violate any human rights in a gun battle in south Delhi in September last year, in which two suspected militants and a police officer were killed.
A four-member team, headed by NHRC acting chairman G.P. Mathur, submitted its report on the gun battle near Batla House in south Delhi to the division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice Manmohan.
In its 30-page report, NHRC said police fired gunshots in only self-defence and the action was “fully protected by law”.
The court will take note of the report Aug 12, the next date of hearing.
The rights panel will make the report available on its website Thursday.
The court had asked the NHRC to probe the controversial shootout and submit a report in two months.

The court ordered the inquiry on a plea of an NGO, Act Now For Harmony and Democracy, that questioned the police version of the incident
