New Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) It was another chilly day in Delhi Thursday with the maximum temperature 8 notches below average at 12.7 degrees while the minimum was 4.4 degrees – three notches below average. The met department has forecast similar conditions Friday.
Nearly 40 trains were cancelled due to fog, said a statement from Indian Railways.
“There seems to be no respite from the cold. Even at 10 a.m it was extremely cold,” said Ramesh Kumar of Kalkaji in south Delhi.
The plight of the homeless was the worst in the biting cold. Dressed in tattered clothes, they are protecting themselves from sitting around bonfires.
“There will be fog on Friday morning but the sky will be clear in the day,” said an official from the India Meteorological Department.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 14 and 5 degrees Friday.
The temperature broke a 44-year-old record Wednesday, settling 11 notches below average at 9.8 degrees.
