Shimla, Jan 9 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh Wednesday saw a marginal rise in temperature owing to prevailing dry weather, but the weatherman said rain and snow were likely this weekend.

Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, was the coldest spot in the state, at a low of minus 8.2 degrees Celsius, warmer than Tuesday’s minus 11.9 degrees.
Most of the prominent tourist towns such as Shimla, Kasauli, Narkanda, Kufri, Manali, Dharamsala, Palampur and Dalhousie experienced a sunny day, a meteorological official told IANS.
State capital Shimla experienced minimum temperature of 4.6 degrees Celsius, higher than Tuesday’s 0.7 degrees. The maximum stayed at 11.9 degrees.
Kalpa in Kinnaur saw a minimum temperature of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius, while it was 1.4 degrees below freezing point in Manali and 5.2 degrees in Dharamsala.
The Met office has forecast rain and snow in some areas from Jan 12.
