Kolkata, July 29 (Inditop.com) At least two Trinamool Congress activists were killed and four others critically injured in West Bengal’s Burdwan district Wednesday, police said.

“No one has been arrested so far in connection with the incident. We’re carrying out raids in the district to nab the perpetrators,” a senior district police officer said.

According to officials, the incident took place in Natungram area of Burdwan Wednesday. Sheikh Samsur Rahman and Sheikh Zafar Ali were killed in the attack.

Four others were severely injured during the violence and taken to Burdwan General Hospital.

“The situation has been brought under control now. A police picket has also been set up to prevent any further violence in the area,” the official said.

“Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) cadres attacked our men and killed them on the spot. The CPI-M is triggering violence as they’ve seen that people have started supporting Trinamool Congress in the district,” Burdwan district Trinamool Congress leader Joydeb Mukherjee told IANS on phone.

“Despite repeated call from the villagers, police came late. They have not taken any step to catch the assailants,” Mukherjee claimed.
