New Delhi, Aug 7 (Inditop.com) They walked up to the bank and were greeted by a shutdown notice. Many parliamentarians Friday got a taste of the hardship caused by a two-day nationwide bank strike.

Friday being the last day of the second session of the 15th Lok Sabha, the MPs and the ministers, before going back to their constituencies, went to the State Bank of India, Parliament House branch, to clear their transactions.

However, they were dejected after seeing a big notice informing that the bank would remain closed Aug 7 on account of a strike call given by the bank’s union. The notice also said the inconvenience was regretted.

Minister of State for Social Justice D. Napoleon and several other first time MPs, including Shruti Choudhari, were disappointed and turned back saying: “Oh, it is closed”.

Over a million employees of 25 state-run banks are on strike demanding better wages and pensions.
