Lima, Aug 8 (EFE) A racehorse valued at $100,000 was killed for meat near the Peruvian capital of Lima, media reports said.

The animal was stolen from its owner a few days back. The horse was imported from the US.

The remains of the animal were found three kilometres from its stable with signs of having been butchered.

Owner of the horse, Hiad Hamide, said the thieves stole the horse Tuesday when they found the animal alone in the corral.

He said this was not the first time that criminals stole a horse for meat.
