Mumbai, Aug 12 (Inditop.com) All educational establishments in India’s financial capital Mumbai will be closed for a week from Thursday and multiplexes for three days to arrest the spread of H1N1 influenza that has claimed 13 lives in Maharashtra so far. However, offices and malls will be open, an official clarified.
“The government has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the city from tomorrow till Aug 20,” a state government official told Inditop.
While thousands of private and government schools as well as the 500 odd colleges in the city would be shut, commercial establishments would be open as would be shopping malls. Trains would also function as normal.
Many private schools in the state have already closed down for two days — Wednesday and Thursday. Thereafter, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are official holidays.
In the past 12 hours, the swine flu toll in the state has shot up to 13 — 10 in Pune, two in Mumbai and one in Nashik.
