Panaji, Aug 20 (Inditop.com) The police here are on the lookout for former supermodel Ujjwala Raut’s estranged husband, a British national, who disappeared after a deportation notice was served on him earlier this month.

Superintendent of Police (Foreigners Branch) Tony Fernandes Thursday said that Craig Maxwell Sterry was illegally staying on somewhere in India and the police were searching for him.

“He is wanted. We have served him a deportation notice and he is illegally staying in India. We suspect that he is in Goa as he resides and works here. Sterry has stated that he works for Polypro (Fibris) India Limited. But the offices are locked,” he told reporters here.

Sterry, who is contesting a divorce with Raut, had last appeared before the Foreigners Regsitration Office in Panaji, to submit his Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card Aug 10. However, his PIO status was revoked by the central home ministry in the “public interest”.

The couple, who resided in Aldona village on the outskirts of Mapusa town in North Goa, now have a divorce case pending in a Mumbai court. Both Raut and Sterry have already filed several complaints against each other at the Mapusa police station in the last few months, for charges ranging from assault to abuse and harassment.

Raut, a former Indian supermodel who has walked the ramp for globally renowned brands like Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Valentino, Yves Saint-Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Hugo Boss, married Sterry, a Britain-based model, in New York in 2004.
