Kolkata, Feb 24 (IANS) Taking strong exception to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urging a pro-government employees union to disband a pro-Left Front employees’ forum, CPI-M leader Surjya Kanta Mishra Monday said the workers will give her a befitting reply.
Daring Banerjee to translate her words into action, Mishra said “many had tried to do this in the past, but failed”.
Banerjee had made the comments at the maiden convention of the Trinamool backed West Bengal Government Employees Federation Saturday. Her target was the Coordination Committee of State Government Employees, which is affiliated to the Communist Party of India-Marxist.
“The members of the union which she wants to disband will give her a befitting reply,” said Mishra, the leader of opposition in the assembly.
On Banerjee’s demand that the central government provide dearness allowance (DA) to State government employees, Mishra said: “Why didn’t she raise the demand when she was with the centre?”
