Gandhinagar, Aug 25 (Inditop.com) Eleven of Gujarat’s 26 districts have received less than 40 percent of rainfall since July 27 this year, an official said here Tuesday.
The worst affected districts are Ahmedabad, Kheda, Vadodara, Tapi, Patan, Dahod, Dangs, Anand, Bharuch, Surendranagar and the Panchamahals.
Gujarat has recorded barely 531.43 mm of rainfall against the average rainfall of 960.86 mm during the same period over the past decade.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the rainfall situation in various districts Sunday and asked the authorities to supply drinking water in rain deficit areas. A disaster relief plan is being prepared by Gujarat.
However, the Indian Meteorological Department in Gujarat was optimistic as it told Modi that monsoon was still not over in the state. Second spell of rains is expected later this week.
