Baghdad, Aug 27 (EFE) A painting by legendary Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, believed to have been stolen during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, was found near Baghdad, a media report said.
Following a tip-off the police raided a house in Yebla in the Iraqi province of Babel and recovered the painting, the Al Sabah newspaper reported Wednesday citing unnamed sources.
The man in possession of Picasso’s “La Mujer Desnuda” painting, which bears the seal of the Kuwaiti National Museum, was arrested.
The accused served in the security forces under late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. He told the police that he planned to sell the painting for about $450,000.
