Chandigarh, Aug 28 (Inditop.com) A 35-year-old man, who recently returned from Switzerland, has tested positive for the influenza A (H1N1) virus, becoming the 12th swine flu patient in this city, officials said here Friday.

“This patient had returned from Switzerland on Aug 24 (Monday) after spending a month there. He contacted PGIMER (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) doctors on Wednesday,” a health official said.

“Seeing his travel history, we immediately admitted him in the isolated ward and collected samples of his throat and nasal swabs for tests that came positive. Apart from him, his four family members have been quarantined at their home here in Sector 16,” he said.

Three suspected cases were reported in Chandigarh hospitals Thursday. So far, over 125 suspected cases have been reported here, while 12 of them tested positive. No swine flu death has been reported from this region.

In neighbouring Panchkula town, two students from Pune in Maharashtra had tested positive for swine flu. They had come to meet their parents in Panchkula during college vacations.
