Ghaziabad, Aug 16 (IANS) A six-year-old student in a public school here was Saturday beaten up by his class teacher, his mother claimed.
Rekha Singh, a resident of Pratap Vihar area, said the school administration justified the punishment, and alleged that police too registered a weak case on charges of voluntarily causing hurt.
She said police refused to book the guilty woman teacher under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The school is reportedly owned by a Samajwadi Party leader.
Rekha Singh said that after returning from school at 2 p.m., her son, a student of Class L.K.G., was under severe shock and said he was beaten by his teacher.
She said she rushed to the school with her child and confronted the teacher, who said whatever she had done was her way to improve the students.
Rekha Singh took her son to a government hospital and later filed a police complaint.
The student, under severe shock failed to name the teacher, but said he was beaten with a stick on his back, shoulders and chest.
A senior police officer confirmed the filing of the complaint, but said the station house officer in charge of Vijay Nagar police station will decide the sections of the Indian Penal Code in the case.
