British actress SAMANTHA MORTON and dance DJ-turned-actor GOLDIE have thrown their support behind a new drive to recruit more social workers.

Academy Award nominee Morton spent much of her childhood living in state-run care homes in her native Nottingham, England.

She admits social workers in her youth had a massive effect on her life and she is now campaigning to help train more professionals to help vulnerable children.

The Minority Report star, and Bond villain Goldie, are backing the Help Give Them A Voice drive, sounding a TV advert for the campaign and recruiting other stars including actress/fashion designer Sadie Frost and former Bionic Woman Michelle Ryan.

Morton says, “My early life from infancy to leaving home at 16 was spent in care. I had wonderful social workers who supported me and helped me achieve my goals in life. That’s why it is important to recruit more social workers. There are many people out there, whether they be children, families, vulnerable adults, even the aged, who need a social worker.”
