New Delhi, Sep 7 (Inditop.com) A judge’s day begins at 9 in the morning and ends at 6 in the evening. And in between come dozens of cases. But there’s some reprieve for the judges in Delhi’s district courts – they can soon sweat off the stress in style by jogging on the treadmill, taking a sauna bath or throwing a few punches.

The five district courts in the capital are already under the burden of hundreds of thousands of cases. So to ensure the good health of judges, the Karkardooma Court Complex will soon be starting a gym.

The gyms named ‘De-stress’ will have all kinds of facilities such as a treadmill, boxing area and space for other recreational activities.

“With the increasing burden of cases on judges, a gym in every court can be very beneficial and relaxing and it will help judges refresh themselves,” said a member of the Shahdara Bar Association.

The de-stress room will also have the facility of sauna bath, steam bath and spa treatment.

“It is a very good step and will certainly help us in de-stressing after the hectic schedule,” said a judge on condition of anonymity.

According to sources, the concept of the de-stress room was mooted by a district judge and will soon begin at the Tis Hazari court complex also.

A judge’s day begins at 9 a.m. and ends at around 6 p.m. “Sometimes we have to work at home too and have to read a lot before reaching any conclusion; so the entire exercise leaves you stressed. Because of lack of time we can’t join any gym outside, but with a gym in the court premises we can work out after wrapping up the daily proceedings,” added the judge.

A gym is already in place at the Delhi High Court and is being used by the judges regularly.

Apart from health fitness equipment, the high court gym has a billiards room too.

“We organise get-togethers and other programmes in the gym area,” said an official from the high court.
