New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS) Jaypee Punjab Warriors’ ace defender Mark Knowles will miss Friday’s Hero Hockey India League (HIL) match against Delhi Waveriders after the Australian was Thursday handed a one-match suspension for breaching the Code of Conduct.

The Disciplinary Committee of HIL met to discuss the conduct of Knowles, International Hockey Federation (FIH) Player of the Year 2014, during his team’s match against Uttar Pradesh Wizards Monday and found him guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct, according to a HIL statement.
“He (Knowles) was found using abusive language against the opponent player and the same was found in video and audio recording and even acknowledged by Mark. This results in Mark getting one match suspension and will have to sit out of the match against Delhi Waveriders tomorrow which will be played in Delhi,” the statement read.
HIL leaders Warriors will play defending champions Delhi Waveriders at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium Friday.
