Dubai, Feb 5 (IANS) Cyclist Mark Cavendish from the Isle of Man won the first stage in the 145-kilometre opening stage of the four-day Dubai Tour.
Cavendish snatched the blue jersey finishing in a time of three hours 24.50 minutes, collecting 20 points here Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
He beat Italian cyclist Andrea Guardini who rides for the Kazakh team Astana Pro.
Earlier in the day, Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum inspected the track and was presented at the finishing line near the union house in the district of Jumeirah.
Dubai Tour is a 663-km international professional cycling race taking place over four stages between Feb 4 to 7.
A total of 16 teams take part in the tour.
