Lucknow, Feb 5 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government Thursday began a review of the law and order situation in the state, an official said.
The state government has formed a seven-member committee which will oversee the review of all police zones, starting with Kanpur and Jhansi zones Thursday.
The review will be done through video-conferencing.
IG (Law and Order) A. Satish Ganesh said that a 22-point agenda has been dispatched to district police chiefs as the review was going to be “threadbare and exhaustive”.
In the second phase, Agra and Meerut zones would be taken up.
The law and order situation in Agra will be reviewed Feb 12 and in Meerut, it will be reviewed Feb 19.
The committee includes Principal Secretary (Home) Debashish Panda and Director General of Police A.K. Jain.
Law and order situation in Bareilly zone will be reviewed Feb 27.
