Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 9 (Inditop.com) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Wednesday blamed the union government’s policies for the poor condition of farmers and also accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of victimising political rivals.
“The gloomy state of economy is the result of the government’s policy framers’ mental incapability and not due to global recession,” Naqvi said addressing mediapersons here.
“(Due to) the government’s near total apathy towards growth and growers, agricultural activities are heading towards unprecedented paralysis while it (the government) has made it a habit to put the entire blame on global recession.”
This attitude has pushed almost the entire peasantry into a state of insecurity and they are being compelled to commit suicide in different states, he added.
Naqvi, criticising Chief Minister Mayawati’s rule, alleged that the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act was being misused to further the interests of her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
He said 90 percent of the cases registered under this legislation were being used to victimise rival political activists. He said BJP workers were being directed to take to the streets to oppose the BSP’s attitude against other parties.
