Mumbai, Sep 10 (Inditop.com) A key index of the Indian equities markets opened on a firm note Thursday and was ruling 1.42 percent higher than its previous close, about five minutes into trade.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened higher at 16,295.92 points, rose to 16,414.14 points, 230.59 points or 1.42 percent higher than its previous close, about five minutes into trade.
It had closed Wednesday at 16,183.55 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 4,874.55 points, against the previous close at 4,814.25 points, a gain of 1.25 percent.
Broader market indices were also in the green, with the BSE midcap index up 1.18 percent and the BSE small cap index ruling 1.38 percent higher.
