New Delhi, April 5 (IANS) The merger of six political parties of the erstwhile Janata Parivar is on “positive fast track” and it would soon be a reality, JD-S leader Danish Ali said on Sunday.
Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here and discussed the merger issue with him, the Janata Dal-Secular leader told IANS.
Ali denied reports that the formal announcement of the merger was to be made on Sunday.
“The formal announcement would be made soon as the whole affair is on positive fast-track,” he said.
Mulayam Singh will meet JD-S chief H.D. Deve Gowda on Monday, he said.
The merger of the Samajwadi Party, Janata Dal-United, JD-S, Indian National Lok Dal, Samajwadi Janata Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal has been in the pipeline following their disastrous performance in the Lok Sabha elections last year.
