Berlin, April 6 (IANS) FC Augsburg extended the contracts of coach Markus Weinzierl and sporting director Stefan Reuter, the club has confirmed in a statement.

Just before the clash against Schalke on Sunday, Augsburg announced that the club has extended the contracts of coach Markus Weinzierl until 2019 and sporting director Stefan Reuter until 2020, reports Xinhua.
Augsburg then played out a 0-0 draw against Schalke in a Bundesliga match.
“The contract extension with Stefan Reuter and Markus Weinzierl is a milestone for Augsburg. It makes us proud that both committed to the FCA. We are convinced that we have laid the foundation with this duo to be successful in the future,” Augsburg president Klaus Hofmann said on Sunday.
Weinzierl took the helm in 2012, helping the club to stay in Germany’s top flight. He also helped the club to complete the last season on the eighth place that was the best ever performance in the club’s history.
“Augsburg’s development in the last two and a half years was great. It is a result of a successful team work,” coach Weinzierl said.
They currently sit on the sixth place in the Bundesliga standings.
