Patna, May 3 (IANS) The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Sunday threatened to paralyse medical services in Bihar if a doctor and his wife allegedly abducted on Friday were not traced soon.

“We have given an ultimatum to the government to safely recover the doctor and his wife by Monday,” IMA state president Sahjanand Singh said.
He said an IMA team was visiting Gaya, where the crime took place, to meet the family of the abducted doctor, Pankaj Gupta.
Gupta along and his wife Subha were abducted near Barachatti on the Grand Trunk road in Gaya district on Friday evening, police said.
The couple was returning to Gaya town, about 100 km from here, after attending a wedding in neighbouring Jharkhand’s Gridih district.
Gupta was driving his new black Audi, and his wife was with him.
“It seems to be a case of kidnapping for ransom,” Gaya Superintendent of Police P. Kanan said.
Gupta is a well known medical practitioner in Gaya and belongs to a leading business family of the town.
