Hyderabad, May 3 (IANS) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman Eoin Morgan on Sunday said they made a great start at home here after beating two-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 encounter here.
Put in to bat, Sunrisers piled on a challenging total of 192/7 in 20 overs with the help of skipper David Warner, who smashed a 28-ball 61 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Saturday.
In reply, the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side could only manage 170/6, handing the Sunrisers their fourth win in eight matches in the Twenty20 tournament.
“Getting the result our way is a great start to our campaign at home. But to get it in the fashion that we did is probably better. Playing Chennai Super Kings is not always an easy task,” Morgan was quoted as saying by iplt20.com.
“They are a team of world beaters and to come out winning the way we did tonight is something we can take a lot of confidence from. Our bowlers tonight were outstanding,” he said.
But in their first game at home here, Sunrisers came up with a surprise, opting for Englishman Morgan ahead of his compatriot Ravi Bopara.
“Me and Ravi always chat about the game. Bopara is an option with the ball as well with regards to selection. It is up to the selectors whether they want to have an out and out batsman or they want an all-rounder,” he said.
On Saturday night against the CSK, Morgan was not at his lethal best. But the left-hander showed glimpses of form with an unbeaten 32 from 27 balls.
“I am feeling good. (Spending) Time in the middle tonight obviously helped. This is my third game in the tournament so far and I think the more I play the more confidence I will gain in my batting,” the England One-Day International (ODI) side captain said.
“The pitch here in Hyderabad is a bit different to what we had in Vizag. I am looking forward to playing more games in the tournament,” Morgan concluded.
