Muscat, May 3 (IANS) The Oman government on Sunday announced amnesty for undocumented expatriate workers in the Gulf nation.
The amnesty period, that ends on July 30, will allow illegal migrant workers to return to their countries without facing penal action.
According to official reports, there are around 50,000 undocumented expatriate workers in Oman.
A majority of these workers are from Asian countries.
According to a report in the Times of Oman, the last amnesty was announced in 2009, when around 60,000 undocumented workers returned to their homes.
