Gurgaon, May 11 (IANS) A 30-year-old man who was arrested for duping five women on a marriage portal on the pretext of marrying them was on Monday sent to 14 days’ judicial custody, police said.

Kunal Joshi, a resident of Sushant Lok area was arrested by Gurgaon police on May 6 from his house.
Five women had filed a complaint that Joshi had duped them of lakhs of rupees by promising marriage.
“Joshi duped women of more than Rs.20 lakh…,” a senior police officer said.
Joshi who works in a private company in Gurgaon had contacted these women through a marriage portal and met them in Dubai.
“The accused took money on the sly that he needed money for treatment of his father who was seriously ill,” he said. After taking money from these women, Joshi disappeared in January 2015.
“One of the complainants came to Gurgaon in the January this year and showed the documents to police that nearly Rs.four lakh were transferred from her bank account in Dubai to Joshi’s account in Gurgaon,” police PRO Subhash Boken told IANS.
The accused was on Monday produced in a district court here after his police remand ended and was sent to judicial custody for fourteen days.
