New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) A traffic policeman accused of attacking a young mother of three with a brick for refusing to pay Rs.200 as a bribe, was sent to 14 days’ judicial custody by a court here on Tuesday.

Special Judge Narottam Kaushal remanded sacked Head Constable Satish Chandra in judicial custody till May 26 after he was presented before court.
Chandra was arrested on Monday after he attacked the woman with a brick when she refused to pay a Rs.200 bribe. The shocking incident of bribery and police brutality was caught on camera and triggered national outrage.
The attack occurred on Monday afternoon, when Ramandeep Kaur, 30, was returning home with her three daughters from Guru Harkrishan Public School after attending a parents-teachers meeting.
Unknown to the policeman, a motorist filmed the ugly brawl. The clip, which went viral on news channels, showed the woman grappling with the cop despite being hit to stop him from escaping on his motorcycle.
