Islamabad, May 12 (IANS) Another lawmaker was disqualified in Pakistan on Tuesday when an election tribunal in Multan ordered re-polling in Sahiwal’s National Assembly-162 constituency.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan, who was elected from the constituency NA-162 in the 2013 general elections, was disqualified after runner-up Independent Haji Mohammad Ayub Khan challenged his victory, Geo News reported.
On May 4, an election tribunal stripped Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique of his post and ordered re-election in Lahore’s NA-125 and Punjab Province-155 constituencies after irregularities were proved during the 2013 general elections.
However, on Monday the Supreme Court quashed the tribunal’s verdict on the minister.
